SK Type QD Bushings

A QD bushing is a type of bearing that is used to connect a shaft to a pulley or other rotating component. QD stands for “quick disconnect,” and QD bushings are designed to be easily removed and installed. This makes them ideal for applications where the shaft or pulley needs to be frequently removed, such as in conveyor systems or other industrial applications.

QD bushings are typically made of steel or aluminum and have a tapered bore that fits snugly over the shaft. The bushing also has a keyway that engages with a key on the shaft to prevent it from rotating. QD bushings are available in a variety of sizes and styles to fit a wide range of applications.

SK QD bushings are designed for use with QD sprockets and pulleys and are available in a variety of bore sizes. Bushings come with standard keyway diameters, so it is important to select the proper bore diameter. Once the bore diameter is determined, the customer can proceed to select the desired bushing. Sleeves are manufactured in accordance with ISO 9001 quality management standards. For easy installation and removal, SK QD bushings are designed to mate with PLI QD sprockets.

A good bushing should be free of oil and any anti-seize lubricant. It should then be installed on the shaft with the flange end down. Next, install the sprocket on the bushing, aligning the big end with the bushing. Finally, drill holes and install the pull-up bolts. SK QD bushings are available in metric and splined bores.

QD Bushing Standard Mounting:

1. Ensure that the cone on the shaft bush and the inside of the driven product are clean and free of oil or any anti-stuck lubricant.

2. First, slide the QD bushing onto the shaft and flange end, and then assemble the key.

3. Place the QD bushing on the shaft. Use only standard hex keys to tighten the set screws on the keys (manually). Don’t push too hard.

4. Slide the large end of the taper hole on the sprocket or other part to the taper so that the drilled bolt hole on the sprocket or other part is aligned with the taper hole on the bushing flange. Then assemble the pull-up bolt and lock washer.

5. Alternately and evenly tighten the pull-up bolts to the tightening level shown in the torque table below. Do not use extensions on wrench handles. There should now be a gap between the surface of the hub of the sprocket or other part and the flange of the QD bushing to ensure a satisfactory tapered grip and pressing. Note: This gap cannot be closed.
